43rd Session of SGA!
April 13, 2009
Dear Student Leaders,
Congratulations on your induction into the 43rd term of the Student Government Association! You have the enormous opportunity and challenge of both representing your specific constituency and their interests, as well as keeping an eye upon maintaining and improving the overall well-being of the University. As you know, the SGA is the University-wide government body representing all 12,000 students at Emory. This weekly meeting is one of the few places where representatives from every division of our school can meet and discuss the status of Emory. What an amazing opportunity we all have!
The University faces a very important period in our rich history. These uncertain times continue to challenge Emory, both present and future. Holding a unique position in influencing the Emory experience, the SGA must responsibly distribute the student activity fee, but also maintain a strong student voice. The “One Emory” campaign slogan I set my platform upon will serve as the theme I wish the SGA to push for and embody in the coming term. Please take the time to get to know the members of SGA in this room. Please do not hesitate email me personally if you ever have any issues or concerns (akappus@emory.edu). Soon enough, this body will witness the excitement of learning and working within a university. Welcome and I look forward to working with you all.
Warmest Regards,
Alex Kappus
President
Student Government Association
